Read and edit your Living Spec
The Living Spec tab shows your application as a diagram with a side panel for the details, all in business terms.
The Living Spec tab shows your application as a diagram of business areas and records, with a side panel where you read and edit the details.
The diagram
- A Domain is an area of your business, such as bookings.
- A Resource is a kind of record, such as a booking.
- Lines show how records relate: links to one, has many, has one or many to many.
Find anything with Search domains and resources… or press Ctrl+K.
The side panel
Select the background, a domain or a resource to see its details.
- The whole application: Title, Overview, Domains, User Roles, Data Governance, External Dependencies.
- A domain: Domain Name, Description, Resources, Domain Policies, Key Metrics.
- A resource: three tabs. Data is what you record. Behavior is what people can do with it. Rules is what must always hold.
Kinds of information
When you add something to record, you choose its kind in plain words: Text, Whole Number, Decimal, Yes / No, Date, Date & Time, Money or Choice.
Saving
Your edits save on their own. A badge shows Saving… and then Saved. Undo with Ctrl+Z.
When you cannot edit
- A banner that begins Viewing checkpoint means you are looking at an earlier save point. Choose Return to live to edit again.
- A banner that says a sheet is read-only means that working copy is closed.
Asking instead of editing
For anything larger than a small correction, ask the assistant. You then see the effect before it happens. See Change something later.
