Preview, Stage and Production
Three places an application can run. Preview to try it, Stage to sign it off, and Production for real use, which comes after the alpha.
An application can run in three places: Preview to try it, Stage to sign it off, and Production for real use. The alpha covers Preview and Stage.
Preview
For a first look. It runs on LobLogix hosting with its own test records. Never put real personal or financial records in it.
Stage
For trying it properly and signing it off. It also runs on LobLogix hosting, with test records separate from Preview. In Stage you try the application in plain words: add sample records, try what should work and what should be refused. See Ask My Backend: try your application in plain words. You can also connect your own frontend to it. See Build and connect your frontend.
Production
For real use. It is not part of the alpha. LobLogix is designed for production on infrastructure your company controls, where by default LobLogix cannot access your production database. See Going live on your own infrastructure: how it is designed.
Why three
Trying and real use should never share records. A change you are unsure about can be tried in Preview without anyone in the business noticing.
Two meanings of Stage and Production
In Versioning, STAGE and PROD are labels on saved versions. Here they are places where an application runs. Promoting a version does not install it anywhere. Installing is a separate step. See Build and deploy.
Test records only
Preview and Stage hold test records and come with no backup. Backups and high availability are part of production, on the business tiers.
Who can install a version
Admins and Editors.
